Although a landlocked community, Brantford has had its share of military men who have sought out the sea as their career and their dedication. The early 1900′s was the beginning of the efforts to establish a Canadian naval service and was first introduced in the House of Commons on March 29, 1909. Although it was rejected, in 19190 a resolution was again brought before the house under the name of the Naval Service Bill. It received royal assent on May 4, 1910.
