As part of the celebrations for the 100th anniversary of the Canadian Navy, a framed plaque was presented to the Navy Club in Brantford featuring the HMCS Brantford – a flower class corvette ship that served during the Second World War.
Navy Club president Frank Hignell said it was an honour to receive the memento.
“The people of this city adopted the ship during the war,” he said. “Residents supplied sailors with cigarettes and lots of things they needed.”
